The grant will be used to provide training and technical assistance for child nutrition food service professionals to prepare and serve nutritious meals that appeal to children; provide nutrition education for children, teachers, parents and other caregivers; and build school and community support for creating healthy school environments that are conducive to healthy eating and physical activity.
The second grant in the amount of $149,335 is to support Kansas’ implementation of new professional standards developed by USDA that include minimum hiring standards for the selection of State directors and local school nutrition program directors and continuing education/training requirements for all school nutrition program employees (79 FR 6488).
