Unknown Disease Afflicts Nearly 30 Infants in a Remote Village in Odisha, India
Around 30 infants are afflicted with an unknown disease in a remote village in Malkangiri district, Odisha, India.
Children from Puruna Potrel village in Korkunda block are suffering from fever, dysentery accompanied with vomiting.

“A doctors’ team has been rushed to Puruna Orkel village in Korkunda and a medical camp has been set up there to treat the ailing children,” Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Uday Shankar Mishra said.

The infants are being given necessary treatments; they have been receiving intravenous fluids and other medicines.

The epidemic has struck soon after the heavy rains in the region. Unknown diseases with similar symptoms had affected the region last year.
