 UK is the First to Empower Physios and Podiatrists to Prescribe Medicines

United Kingdom may just be setting a new trend in healthcare where Physiotherapists and Podiatrists can begin to prescribe medicines for their patients .

The Department of health made this announcement which promises to bring faster and more effective healthcare services.

Following suitable training , it will be possible for the medics to prescribe medications such as painkillers and anti-inflammatories to their patients.

Health minister Lord Howe said: "Physiotherapists and podiatrists are highly trained clinicians who play a vital role in ensuring patients receive integrated care that helps them recover after treatment or manage a long-term condition successfully. By introducing these changes, we aim to make the best use of their skills and allow patients to benefit from a faster and more effective service."
