Two pregnant Dalit women died after they were allegedly thrown out of a state-run rural hospital in Uttar Pradesh by doctors and para-medical staff for not paying bribe. A case of criminal negligence has been registered against the erring medical staff.
The victims died on Wednesday night after they were asked to leave the hospital in Kanpur district just after their delivery.

"A prima facie case has been established against the hospital staff and stern action would follow against the erring staff," state principal health secretary Arun Kumar Misra told IANS here Friday evening.
The victims' families are demanding that the staff be booked for culpable homicide.
"Preliminary inquiry carried out by the state heath director confirmed the complicity of the doctors and hospital staff in forcing the two women out of the maternity ward, shortly after their delivery, leading to their death," he disclosed
