Twins Born 87 Days Apart in Ireland
A mother from Republic of Ireland gave birth to twins who were born 87 days apart, setting up a new Guinness World Record for the longest interval between the birth of twins.
Maria Jones-Elliott, 34, gave birth to Amy when she went into labor four months early while her twin, Katie, held on before being born 87 days later. Maria said that the doctors informed her and her husband, Chris, that they had achieved a medical equivalent of winning a lottery.

“I call the girls our little miracles. As I held Amy for the first time I stroked my bump and prayed to God. I just wanted my girls to be together and safe and well. It was the hardest three months of our lives. But Chris kept saying, ‘Where there’s life there’s hope’”, Maria said.
