A BBC report has said that many doctors are offering homeopathic vaccinations in Scotland, a move that could leave patients vulnerable to ill health.
Three practitioners of alternative therapies admitted that they offered a homeopathic vaccine as an alternative to the MMR vaccine, the investigation revealed. Six Scottish members of the Homeopathic Medical Association were approached by the BBC to ascertain the truth behind these claims.
"The alternative that I would offer would be a homeopathic remedy made from diseased tissue, that comes from someone with that disease, and then made into potentised form so that is given in a homeopathic remedy," Katie Jarvis, who is based in Inverness said. "It can be given instead or as well as the vaccination." She added that the vaccine was only offered to patients who were interested in it.
The BBC program will be broadcast at 7.30pm on BBC One Scotland.
