To Help Animals of Jamshedpur Zoo Fight Cold Special Diet And Heaters Have Been Arranged
The Tata Zoological Park authorities, have made special arrangements to ensure a comfortable and warm atmosphere for their inmates as mercury dipped in Jamshedpur.
Officials at the zoo informed that mats and hay is being laid down inside cages to help them beat the chill.

Heaters have also been installed in the enclosures of animals like lions, tiger, leopards and sloth bear. The windows of their cages have been covered with jute mats, in order to shield them from the icy cold winds.

According to reports, authorities have prepared a special diet plan to ensure proper nutrition to the captive animals.

"As temperature dips in Jamshedpur, we take precautions every year, from October onwards. We take special care for the diet and also make other arrangements. All the animals, especially bears and hyenas, have heaters installed in their enclosures.

"This is to provide them relief from the harsh winters. We have also put bulbs in bird cages to keep them warm," said Director of the Tata Zoological Park, Jamshedpur, Bipul Chakraborty.

Besides meat, ounces of vitamin supplements are provided for the carnivores. Herbivores have their share of green fodder, along with doses of minerals and vitamins.
