Three Servings of Fruits and Vegetables may Brighten Your Outlook Towards Life
Eating just three servings of fruits and vegetables every day could go a long way in brightening your outlook towards life, a new study published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine reveals.
Researchers led by Julia Boehm, from Harvard School of Public Health, people who have an optimistic outlook of live tended to have higher levels of plant compounds known as carotenoids in their blood. Carotenoids are usually found in orange fruit and green and leafy vegetables. The study was conducted among more than 1,000 Americans between 25 and 74 years of age.

“Individuals with greater optimism tended to have greater levels of carotenoids such as beta-carotene. This is the first study of its kind to report a relationship between optimism and healthier levels of carotenoid concentrations”, Boehm said.
