The Latest In Passwords Might Be Facial Recognition and IPhone Will Soon Be Providing It
A technology that would let users unlock their iPhones based on face detection was patented recently by Apple.
The US Patent and Trademark granted the patent called "Personal computing device control using face detection and recognition" to the tech giant that envisions a method to access iPhone and other devices based on facial recognition.

According to Cnet, the tech would mean that a user's face would act as a password for unlocking the device, allowing only answering a call and performing other tasks.

The technology would scan a face in order to record all of its unique features, such as texture, color, size, and shape and users could run the process for any other person whom they want to use their iPhone.

The report said that Apple's patent points to the tech's use on other devices, including TVs, PDAs, and personal computers.

Facial recognition is already used by other products, such as Microsoft's Kinect and Sony's PlayStation apart from being offered on Android phones, the report added.
