The Key to Happiness Lies in Doing Simple Things
One does not need to go very far in search of happiness, for it may lie in doing very simple things like spending time with family and enjoying a good work-life balance.

In the study of 4,000 adults between 18 and 65, researchers found that six hours sleep a night, a 20 minute commute to work, and two hours a day playing with the children are the key things which lead to contentment.

They discovered that those adults who were happiest in life work just over seven hours a day, enjoy five cooked meals a week, and jet off on two holidays a year.

They also socialize with friends once a week, watch three episodes of their favourite soap opera, and exercise up to four times over seven days.

"Brits aren't after expensive holidays or fast cars to make them happy, but the simpler things in life," the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for the dairy company Yeo Valley, which commissioned the research, as saying.

"Uninterrupted sleep, quality time with the kids and partner were all deemed really important.

"Our lives are busier than ever so managing to fit in a home-cooked meal, catching our favourite soap or gym session can help keep us smiling.

"Straight-forward things like eating organic food, getting through the front door after work at a decent time and spending time outdoors provide us with an all-round balanced life.

"And small treats like takeaways, nights out or the odd weekend away can keep the spark in a relationship and avoids everyday life become too mundane," he added.
