A survey by drug information service FRANK has found that most teens are aware of the ill-effects caused by using cannabis. The survey also found that 42% teens know someone who has had to battle mental health issues after using the drug.
"The majority of teenagers (55%) don't want to risk their health by using cannabis. However, some people choose to take the risk, while others wrongly believe cannabis is harmless because it is a plant," said Chris Hudson from FRANK."Cannabis messes with your mind - and reactions can be more powerful with stronger strains such as skunk, which is around twice as potent."
The survey also found that 74% teens knew cannabis was bad for the brain, while 56% said they lost motivation to do well at school after using the drug.
