The number of teenage girls giving birth in the United States has fallen over the last two years the rate continues to remain high in the south.

Overall 45 states in the country showed significant decline in teenage mothers with the rate being lowest in the North East region of the country.
However southern and western states continued to struggle with high rate of teenage pregnancy with states such as Texas, Mississippi and Oklahoma showing birth rates of 60 per 1000 teens compared to the national average of 39 per 1000.
