Teacher's 'Fruit Syndrome' Leads to Banana Ban At UK School!

by VR Sreeraman on Jun 17 2009 6:05 PM

A school in Devon, England that banned bananas from children's lunch-boxes has left parents livid.

The school's decision is a precautionary measure keeping the safety of a teacher in mind who suffers from latex fruit syndrome, which is potentially fatal.

Stoke Damerel Primary School in Plymouth has strength of 320 students.

Parents of these students are baffled and have branded the ban as "ridiculous".

"This is complete and utter nonsense - the world has gone mad," The Daily Express quoted a parent as saying.

The city councillor and a former head-teacher have also denounced the ban as "over the top".

However, the ban introduced two years back will be lifted once the teacher calls it quit in September, a spokesman said.
