Sweet Way to a Healthy Heart
Now sugar could be the best way of keeping your heart healthy after a group of Australian researchers claimed that they have developed a new sugar compound that was actually beneficial to cardiac health.

The compound was developed by Corin Storkey and his colleagues at the University of Melbourne and is a combination of sugar and selenium which helps prevent reactive acids from damaging the heart..

"Our seleno-sugar compounds work by scavenging hypohalous acids, a group of highly reactive chemicals that can damage tissues when produced in the wrong place, at the wrong time or at excessive levels", Storkey said.

The study has been published in the journal Chemical Communications
