Survey Finds British Teens Lag Behind Counterparts in China and South Korea in Maths
A new study carried out by Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development has found that British teenagers are among the worst in math, literacy, reading and science compared to other countries such as South Korea, China and Singapore.
Britain is found to be the only country in the developed world where the retiring generation is more literate and numerate than young adults, the Daily Express reported.

Britons aged 16 to 24 are among the least literate and numerate in the world.

In the past decade, the teenagers dropped from 17th to 25th place for reading, while their maths performance was worse, falling from 24th to 28th.

Even though they fared slightly better in science dropping from 14th to 16th position, they still are below many developed countries.

In fact, the maths skills of 25 percent of British adults is no better than a 10-year-old, while one in six adults struggles to read at a level expected of a child leaving primary school.

These figures have shown that Britain has stagnated since the last international education ratings in 2009.
