Surgeon Sacked After Performing Unnecessary Vasectomy
A surgeon in a Liverpool hospital in Britain has been sacked after mistakenly carrying out a vasectomy surgery on a patient.
Liverpool’s Broadgreen Hospital admitted that attempts to reverse the vasectomy have failed and while the man can still have children through IVF, he will not be able to have them naturally.

The hospital admitted that the mistaken vasectomy was just one in five botched up surgeries that were performed over the last 12 months, including two ‘never events, mistakes that are not supposed to happen.

Stating that they are still investigating the incidents, the hospital’s medical director Dr Peter Williams said, “We are still in the process of investigating some of these incidents, including looking at how to improve the processes and systems in place and are taking appropriate action. We cannot comment on the outcomes of these investigations at this stage. Patient safety is always our priority and we use the lessons learnt from any incident to continually improve our standard of care”.
