Running and biking were the hottest fitness trends in 2014, a recent search has revealed. The results were based on a poll conducted by MyFitnessPal, an internet site and smartphone app that lets customers monitor actions, energy and meals consumption, among forty seven million customers.

The researchers for the application, which released year-over-year trend data publicly for the very first time, analyzed the total number of minutes logged per activity and divided by the number of daily active users.

The Wall Street Journal then requested MyFitnessPal to list the top 10 most-logged activities for January through November 2014, which was then released and compared with the list for the same period from 2013.
