Stella McCartney Denies Reports of Using Kangaroo Leather in Products

by VR Sreeraman on Aug 29 2007 8:04 PM

Ace designer Stella McCartney has denied reports that she is using Kangaroo hide in the footwear she is designing in collaboration with Adidas.

The company has a long history of using Kangaroo leather in its range of products.

However, through a statement made public by her spokesman Stephane Jaspar, McCartney insisted that being ‘a lifelong vegetarian and a supporter of animal rights’, she will not include leather or fur in her collection.

The statement added that her designs will use high quality fabric substitutes for leather.

"Stella MCCartney is a lifelong vegetarian and committed advocate of animal rights and doesn't use any leather or fur in any of her collections,” Contactmusic quoted the statement, as saying.

"All the accessories designed in collaboration with Adidas are made with alternative to leather: high performance fabrics, which don't use any animal by products including kangaroo leather,” the statement added.
