Doctors from Cuba, Bangaladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, besides India, will be among the 500 delegates who will take part in a three-day sports medicine conference starting New Delhi on Friday.
'Sports Medcon 2007', whose theme is 'Sports Medicine for drug free sports- Commonwealth Games 2010', is being organised as part of the Indo-Cuban collaboration on sports, said P.S.M. Chandran, director of sports medicine, Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The delegates will also include scientists, physical educationists, coaches, physiotherapists and sports administrators from all over the country.
Doctors Aldo Lopez Galarraga and Andres Rios Hernandez of the Cuban Sports Institute, Havana, will be special invitees at the meet at the invitation of Sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar as part of Indo-Cuban collaboration on sports.
A two-day course is also being conducted to train doctors and physiotherapists on team medical care.
Delhi's Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna will open the conference at the SCOPE Convention centre, CGO Complex, Friday evening.
The conference is a joint venture of the Indian Federation of Sports Medicine, the Indian Olympic Association, the organising committee of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, the Indian Medical Association, the Services Sports Control Board and the Directorate of Health, Delhi government.
