Speech and Language Issues may be Genetic in Origin
A new research has suggested that the belief that majority of long term speech and language problems are due to negligent parenting skill is far from accurate.

The survey, conducted by Communication Trust, polled more than 6,000 people, which included over 3,000 parents, and found that over 50 percent of the parents believe that the problems are caused due to poor communication with their children.

More than 20 percent believed that such problems are caused due to genetic reasons while over 16 percent attribute it to excessive TV watching or playing computer games.

"Ten per cent of children - that's two to three in every UK classroom - have some form of long-term communication difficulty that is biologically based. These results reinforce the need for our Hello campaign to improve understanding of speech, language and communication difficulties", Communication Trust's spokeswoman Jean Gross said.
