An expert committee assembled by the American College of Endocrinology and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists is recommending several steps so that pre diabetics can avoid diabetes.

* Get aggressive about dealing with prediabetes, where blood sugar levels are above normal but not high enough to be called as diabetes

* Eat low-fat diet

* Control your blood pressure

* Lose 5 to 10% of body weight

* Take aspirin and other medicines when needed.
