 Smart Homes may Identify Illness
In what could prove to be a major technical innovation, a group of British researchers are trying to design the next generation of homes that could identify whenever the inhabitants fall ill.
Led by Dr Jim Briggs, researchers from the University of Portsmouth's Faculty of Technology have been try to develop special sensors that will check whether everyone in the house is in good health.

Some of the work done by the sensors include checking whether someone has fallen down or is sleeping, reminding the inhabitants of the medication time and monitoring food levels.

“In theory, sensors could be installed in every room in the house. They could even be linked to the fridge so you can check mum or dad is eating properly, on pill dispensing equipment so you can check the right medicine is being taken and on the temperature of the bath water being run”, Dr Briggs said.
