 Sleep Care Facility in India
SleepCare Solutions (SCS) along with Philips Respironics have set up in Hyderabad, India’s first facility to treat sleep disorders.
Meeting the guidelines of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the facility has been set up at a cost of Rs. 1 crore. It offers the use of latest technology and therapeutic options in a country where sleep disorders are becoming increasingly prevalent.

A survey conducted by The Nielsen Company in 2009 revealed that 93 per cent of Indians are sleep deprived, not getting the mandatory eight hours of sleep for good health. Although some people are genetically poor sleepers, other disorders like sleep apnea, insomnia, periodic limb movement disorder, and narcolepsy are common problems people face, along with the socio-economic consequences that come along too.

The charges for treatment at the facility include Rs.7, 500 to Rs.12, 500 for sleep study, and the CPAP, a device developed by Philips Respironics used to treat obstructive sleep apnea costs Rs.15, 000 to Rs.60, 000.  The facility has three beds and two portable testing devices.

Lavanya Gali, the medical director of SleepCare Solutions, announced a future project of setting up 25 centres in two years at a cost of Rs. 20 crores. 15 centres will be in India while the rest will be set up in the Middle East and South East Asia.
