Research Links Sleep Apnea and Stroke
Research has pointed out that most of the people with obstructive sleep apnea remain undiagnosed, and therefore go untreated which can reduce work productivity.
Diagnosis and screening of sleep apnea is very much necessary, as the condition can increase the risk of stroke.

Obstructive sleep apnea can also be a serious complication after a person suffers a stroke.

Doctors have advised that there are ways to prevent sleep apnea from occurring. One is to keep the body weight low. Intake of medications and substances that relax the airways and cause snoring, such as sedatives and alcohol, also adds to the risk of this condition.

Sleeping on the side helps prevent disordered breathing, experts said.
