There might be some similarity between animal shedding its coat during certain times of the year and male-pattern baldness. Recent research from the University of Southern California has found that hair loss is caused not just by the hormones in the hair follicles but also in the tissue surrounding the follicles.
This process is akin to animals shedding their coats, which is a normal pattern that occurs amongst animals.
“The hair-follicle stem cell is not only listening to the voice in the stem cell, but also from the outside,” researchers said.
Any treatment for baldness should also focus on the tissue around the hair follicles and not merely concentrate on the follicles alone.
