The shocking double life of a 15-year-old schoolgirl, who worked as a high-class hooker and raked in 14,000 pounds in two months has come to light.

The teenager, who claimed to be 18, attended classes during the weekdays, and worked for an escort agency at the weekends.

Her double life was discovered after a teacher found condoms in her school bag.

The school called in cops, who took the girl home, and then searched the house she was sharing with her mum and step dad.

The police discovered 8,060 pounds hidden in the loft, and they at first suspected that her parents were acting as her pimps and arrested them both.

But after it was established that the girl had acted independently, the couple were released without charge.

The teenager was also not arrested, and cops say that she has been "treated as a victim throughout," though the cash has been forfeited after JPs ruled it was obtained through crime.

"The money was seized after police received a phone call from a school where a teacher found a pupil's bag containing certain items," the Sun quoted Asa Anderson, for Northumbria Police, as telling at a Proceeds of Crime hearing at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court.

Officers said that her earnings over two months were 14,000 pounds, which would have netted a staggering 84,000 pounds in a year if she had not been discovered.

Shocked children's groups last night said that the teenager urgently needed help, and social services were working with the family.

"I feel desperately sorry for this young girl," Michele Elliott, of children's charity Kidscape, said.

"You do have to wonder what gave her the idea to sell herself - was it to get nice things, was it to get enough money to leave home or was it because she was abused herself as many prostitutes have been?

"It is absolutely shocking. As a parent you would think you would know your daughter was working as a prostitute, but clearly this girl was able to hide it from her parents," she stated.

Wendy Shepherd, of Barnardo's, added: "Child sexual exploitation is an issue for a number of towns and cities. It is not unusual young people are coerced and groomed into sexual exploitative relationships and don't always understand fully what is happening."
