Hundreds of acres of illegal marijuana crops were destroyed in the Jarulbachai district of West Tripura in a joint operation carried out by the Border Security Force, state police, excise department and the state administration.
Acting on a tip-off, the forces found illegal marijuana cultivations across the hillocks. They destroyed and burnt the illegal plants which amounted to over Rs. 1 crore. According to reports this plantation was bound for Bangladesh.
The BSF has seized Rs. 14 crores worth of contraband from Tripura bound for Bangladesh from October 2014.
