Scotland Has CO2 Capture and Storage Potential

By storing carbon dioxide off the Scottish coast, deep below the sea, at least 13,000 jobs could be created by 2020 and another 14,000 jobs elsewhere in UK. The study which was conducted by the Scottish Government, industry and researchers found that the Moray Firth could be a potential site for carbon capture and storage industry.

Researchers have calculated that a rock formation more than half mile below the Moray Firth, known as 'Captain Sandstone', could store massive amounts of CO₂ output from the power industry in Scotland. The Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage (SCCS) have cited this as a landmark moment in development of carbon capture and storage.
