Sanofi-Aventis has joined hands with the Columbia University Medical Center to conduct a joint research into the development of new diabetes drugs.

Sanofi Aventis’ ophthalmology division Fovea Pharmaceuticals has also entered into collaboration with Europe's Vision Institute as part of the joint research into diagnosis, prevention and treatment of ocular diseases.
The pharmaceutical giant will gain exclusive commercial rights for any drugs that are developed during the research period with both Vision Institute and the Columbia University Medical Center getting royalties.
