Royal Wedding Reception: Ban on Beer

Royal Wedding Reception: Ban on Beer
Beer off the menu at Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding reception. Guests have been banned from drinking beer.
The prospect of guests downing pints has been deemed unsuitable for such a prestigious occasion, and as a result beer will not be served at Buckingham Palace after they tie the knot next Friday.

Instead, their 650 guests will be treated to flutes of champagne and wine to accompany their canapes.

"There won't be any beer," the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

"Let's face it, it isn't really an appropriate drink to be serving in the Queen's presence at such an occasion.

"And while the younger royals enjoy a pint from time to time, neither Kate nor William is a big beer drinker.

"It was always their intention to give their guests a sophisticated experience and they have chosen the food and drink with this in mind," the source added.

Neither groom William, 28, nor his bride Middleton, 29, will be drinking alcohol because they want to remain sober to savour the unique occasion.
