Robotic Wheelchair Allows Disabled People to Stand Upright
A Turkish research company has developed a new robotic wheelchair that allows disabled people using the wheelchair to stand upright.
The device, Tek RMD (Robotic Mobilization Device) has been developed by AMS Mekatronic and its creator Necati Hacikadiroglu said that the device will help disabled people move around in a more comfortable position.

A demonstration video put up by AMS Mekatronic features Yusuf Akturkoglu who has lost mobility of his limbs due to a spinal cord injury. The video shows Akturkoglu use a remote control to move Tek RMD and mount it through the rear. He can then get himself to a standing position by simply pulling a handle and use its suspension system with gas spring balances.

"I can live my life much closer to my life before the accident," Akturkoglu told CNN. "I can fit into places that I didn't used to."
