Risk of Falls With Prescription Medication

People who consume two or more prescription drugs could carry a double risk of suffering a serious fall irrespective of their age, a recent study has found. Though previous research had indicated this risk among elderly people, the present study found that even young and middle-aged carry a risk of falls with consumption of tow or more prescription drugs, although the falls may be less severe.

Drugs consumed to reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol was mostly associated with the risk of causing unintentional falls.

However, researchers from the University of Auckland are of the opinion that falls may occur mostly due to the presence of the medical condition itself rather than the medicines.
