Rising Cases of Back Pain Among Young Adults Due to ‘iPosture’
Excessive gadget use is leading to increased problems due to back pain that is caused by slumping shoulders and slouching middle and lower back, also known as 'iPosture', among 18-24 year-old young adults, says a new survey.
The survey conducted by UK health provider Simplyhealth, states that young adults lost 1.5 more days of work on average due to back pain as compared to older adults.

According to the New York Daily News, the survey was conducted among 3,000 adults and about 84 percent of the young adults experience lower back pain.

Dr. Brian Hammond of the U.K. health organization BackCare said that excess screen time was likely to blame for the health implications as the young adults averaged 8.83 hours in front of their digital devices each day as a survey had found and suggested that young adults must learn the basics of correct posture to avoid future heath issues.

Dr. Hammond said that slumping and hunching over computers and hand-held devices is a contributory factor in the different types of back pain reported by different generations.

The National Institutes of Health states that back pain is a common reason for decreased activity levels in young adults and eight in 10 people will complain of back pain at some point in their lives, the report added.
