Rise in Number of Weight Loss Operations
Recent figures have shown that the number of people undergoing weight-loss surgeries in Scotland has gone up by 50 per-cent in the past three years .
The reasons for this sudden spurt in weight loss surgeries with the NHS is because of   rise in obesity and obesity related problems.

Weight loss surgeries are a good way for people to lose weight and thus lower their risk of obesity associated complications.

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said: "We're very focused on dealing with what is a rising problem of obesity. So we have in place strategies to encourage people to live more actively, to eat more healthily and these are the kind of things we're focusing on to reduce the levels of obesity in future years, and therefore reduce the need for weight loss surgery on the NHS”.
