Rise in Number of Patients With Eating Disorders
Liberal democrats have called for urgent action after official figures showed that there is a sharp rise in the number of females seeking help for eating disorders.
Around 1,447 females aged between ten and 30 years sought help from their GP or nurse for managing their eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia during the year 2008-09.

These numbers included 222 girls aged between ten and 16, as well as 759 women aged between 17 and 23 and 450 females in the 24-30 age group.

Public health minister Shona Robison revealed these figures in response to a question from Liberal Democrat health spokesman Ross Finnie in the Scottish parliament.
