Research Indicates Four Strains of Dengue Virus may be Killed by 98alive
A joint study conducted by researchers at Australia and Indonesia’s Airlangga University has found that an active ingredient present in a Melaleuca alternifolia leaf extract was able to kill all four strains of the dengue virus.
The two-year long phase II trial was conducted by 12 of the leading scientists from Airlangga University who found that an ingredient present in the patented form of the extract, 98alive, was able to decrease the viral load of the dengue virus at a rate of 96.67 percent. The study was privately funded by the product’s developer, 98 Alive Pty Ltd, and has been approved by the Medical Research Ethical Committee of Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya.

The study involved over 530 patients in whom dengue infection was shown by Ns-1, IgG and IgM positive detection and the researchers found that providing them with a 300mg dose of 98alive twice every day significantly reduced dengue fever in three days, with the symptoms disappearing in five days.
