A recent report released by the Canadian Environmental Law association has shown that renovations at home can prove harmful to health, more-so of the little ones at home. During renovation, the dust from homes can trigger allergies and old lead based paints can be toxic to children.
Explaining that even low levels of lead exposure can cause intellectual and behavioral problems, Dr. Bruce Lanphear of the Child and Family Research Institute at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver said, “Children who are exposed to lead have, on average, lower IQ scores and (are at) higher risk of behavior problems, like ADHD."
"Exposure to lead has even been found to contribute to criminal behaviors,” he added.
