Regular Cocaine Users Have Increased Death Risk Due to Damaged Heart
A new study published in the journal Heart has warned that regular cocaine users are at a great risk of dying suddenly since their habit has caused major structural damage to their hearts.
Researchers from the G Monasterio Foundation in Pisa, Italy found that more than 83 percent of regular cocaine users suffer from massive damage to the structure of their heart and while there are no symptoms that reveal the damage, they are at a great risk of suffering from fatal heart attacks and strokes even though they feel completely healthy.

Around 30 cocaine addicts took part in the study with researchers finding that 73 percent of them had some tissue scarring likely caused by heart attacks while nearly half of them were found to have a swollen left ventricle.

Commenting on the study, British Heart Foundation’s Maureen Talbot said, “This small study shows that cocaine can “silently” cause irreversible heart-muscle damage, which may take some time to become apparent. This damage can destroy your quality of life and even cause premature death.”
