Pranab Mukherjee visited National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) to inaugurate its heritage museum in Bangalore.

He declared NIMHANS as an Institute of national importance. He stressed that the hospital should adopt modern technology to improve efficiencies in all its centers.
"It is only appropriate that NIMHANS, located in the IT city of Bengaluru, should adopt modern, computer-based hospital information systems to improve efficiencies in all its centers. The use of information technology to invigorate health care delivery also helps in reducing costs, optimizing resource management and minimizing paper work.”
He also applauded the hospital faculty initiatives to adopt e-hospital and e-project programs on its premises.
“The e-hospital and e-project programs taken up by NIMHANS are, therefore, excellent initiatives, worthy of emulation by other institutions,” he said.
