Practo Acquires Hospital IT Company Insta Health For $12 Million
Bengaluru-based online healtcare Practo has acquired hospital information management company Insta Health Solutions for $12 million (Rs 76 crore) in a cash and equity deal.
The venture, which was founded in 2008 by Shashank N D and Abhinav Lal soon after they graduated from NIT-Surathkal, acquired NCR-based web and app-based fitness management platform Fitho Wellness and product outsourcing firm Genii. In August Practo raised $90 million.Its other investors include Milner, Google Capital, Sequoia Capital and Altimeter Capital. Practo is known for its portal that allows customers to find and book appointments with doctors and find information about a doctor's availability across hospitals and departments, and have access to their medical records. Practo has a popular software for individual doctors to handle all their records.

Insta Health, funded by Inventus Capital Partners, will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Practo and will continue to be led by Ramesh Emani, founder and CEO of the venture. Emani founded the company in 2008 after over 24 overs with Wipro, where his last position was as president of the telecom and product engineering solutions. Insta Health's solution is used by over 500 hospitals and clinics in 12 countries.
