Condition of the Postmortem Department at Patna Medical College Deteriorates

Celebrating the 90th Foundation Day, Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), India, is on the verge of deterioration. The alumni expressed their grief about the post mortem department of PMCH.

Though the High Court issued a notice in 2011 to improve the situation of PMCH, the situation remains the same. The postmortem house of PMCH lies shattered.

Basic necessities like proper machinery, x-ray machine, flaming glass, shocker machine, knife; equipments like needle and thread were not maintained in the department. The family members of the dead are forced to bring basic things like soap, thread -needle, mask. The doctors and attendants have to arrange apron, cleanser and other things.

Ram S.N Sinha, Principal, PMCH, "Four attendants need to be allotted at the post-mortem house but not a single appointment has been made till date by the government. Application for appointment has been forwarded to the government, the files for the appointment of fourth grade workers is pending with the DM. I have written a number of times in this concern, but all in vain."
