Popular Children's Book in Fight Against Obesity

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle, an already popular book with children has gained more fame by a report that claims the book helps to fight child obesity.

The head of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Marion Burton, has said that the book teaches children to eat healthily and helps them to live a healthy lifestyle.

A group that has closely worked closely with former president, Bill Clinton, has used this book to guide children to eat healthily and cut down on weight. Now, special editions of the book are being sent to 17,000 pediatricians together with material on growth charts and healthy eating habits.

The book has the message that too much of fat, sodium and high-fructose corn syrup are not good to live healthily.

The author, Eric Carle has been very excited that his book is being used in efforts to encourage healthy eating habits in children. He has said, "I hope 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' will be a happy reminder for children to grow healthy and spread their strong wings, like the butterfly in my book".
