 Poisoning Cases Due to Laundry Detergent Exposure on the Rise: CDC Report
A new report published in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report reveals that more than 1,000 of poisoning cases due to laundry detergent exposure were reported in a month.
According to the report, around 1,008 cases were reported at the National Poison Data System during the period between May 17 and June 17, with 48 percent of the cases related to laundry detergent pods.

In nearly half of the cases, the age of the victim was recorded with more than 94 percent being children below five years of age.

“From May 17 to June 17, poison centers reported 1,008 laundry detergent exposures to the National Poison Data System, of which 48 percent of exposures involved laundry detergent pods. Age was recorded for 481 exposures, in which 94 percent exposures involved children age 5 and younger”, the report said.
