Jaswant Singh, a photographer from Punjab is doing fine with five kidneys inside his body following donations of three organs from his mother and his sisters.
Singh, who is 33, required a kidney transplant after his organs suddenly failed in 2002. Initially his older sister Harjindar Kaur donated a kidney, which lasted for one year. "However, my body rejected the kidney once I stopped post-operation medication because of financial constraints," he told The Telegraph newspaper.
He received his second transplant in 2004 which worked for 14 months, but he was back on dialysis. Singh said his third kidney was donated by his mother who is determined to see him live.
Doctors from the National Kidney Hospital performed this transplant for free after seeing how much his family has suffered financially.
