Pets may Instill Socio-emotional Development in Autistic Kids
A recent French insight has revealed the advantages of having a pet at home, especially in families with an autistic child, as it helps develop their social skills.
A marked improvement occurred if the family got a pet during the early part of childhood, say at about age 5.

The study showed that interaction with a pet improved the abilities of sharing and caring among autistic children, especially among those who got a pet after age 5. There was no palpable development in social skills in autistic children without pets.

"In individuals with autism, pet arrival in the family setting may bring about changes in specific aspects of their socio-emotional development," the researchers said.
