Parkinson's Disease Society is Now Parkinson's UK

by Rajshri on Feb 23 2010 8:44 PM

The Parkinson's Disease Society has rebranded itself and the charity will now be known as Parkinson's UK. The charity clarified that it had taken this step so as to increase the awareness about the disease among society as well as GPs.

"The old brand didn't fully reflect what we do and the hope is that our new brand will show that our members are at the heart of our work," said Steve Ford, chief executive of the charity. "The views of people affected by Parkinson's have helped us to clarify our vision for the future to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by the disease."

The new name will come into effect from April this year. The charity also has ambitious plans to raise £110 million over the next five years in order to find a cure for the disease.
