Parents Accuse Hyderabad Hospital of Negligence After Cat Gnaws Fingers of Baby
A state run hospital in Hyderabad is being accused of negligence after the parents of a baby boy claimed that his fingers were gnawed by a cat and the hospital authorities are attempting to cover up the incident.
According to the parents, who hail from the Mahabubnagar district, the baby was born on November 18 and was sent to his parents’ village with his hands covered up in bandages. The parents were told not to remove the bandages or show the injury to others but they went ahead and removed it, discovering the injuries.

The grandmother of the boy said that when the parents complained about it to the hospital authorities, they admitted that the hands were bitten by a cat and they will be taking care of the injury but asked the parents not to reveal the incident to anyone.

“The hospital staff admitted to my daughter that a cat had bitten the baby. She claimed such a thing has never happened before in the hospital. When I asked the doctor, she said it is their responsibility and they will take care of him. But asked us not to tell anyone about this”, the grandmother said. Police have launched an investigation into the incident though the hospital authorities are dismissing the allegations.
