Over 90 Pediatric Flu Deaths Reported in the United States

Influenza (flu) is a contagious, respiratory tract infection, which is caused by influenza viruses. Children are more affected by the influenza virus.

This season a total of 91 flu deaths were reported in children in the United States, revealed data released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Flu Deaths in the United States

There have been at least 25 million illnesses, 280,000 hospitalizations, and 17,000 deaths from flu this season in the US, according to CDC estimates.

Nearly 4,000 people were hospitalized due to flu in the US in the latest week ending January 21, CDC data showed.
