The London Olympics drew more than 150 million tweets, reveals popular micro blogging site Twitter.
Sprint superstar Usain Bolt attracted the most discussion overall, and was responsible for the biggest spike in conversation after the completion of his unprecedented double sprint title defence in the 200 metres.

According to the website, the performance triggered a peak of over 80,000 tweets per minute, compared to over 74,000 per minute for Bolt's 100 metres win.

Andy Murray's demolition of Roger Federer in the men's tennis singles prompted the third biggest spike in tweets, which peaked at over 57,000 tweets per minute, The Telegraph reports.

According to the report, the most-discussed sport was on the website was football.

The site also revealed the most-discussed British athlete throughout the Games was diver Tom Daley, who was at the centre of controversy early on when he was subjected to vile abuse on Twitter.

A total of 10 athletes attracted more than one million tweets overall, across a range of sports, including the swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, gymnastics gold medallist Gabby Douglas and Lee Chong Wei, a Malaysian Badminton star.
