Outbreak of H5N2 Bird Flu in Hebei Confirmed by China

The outbreak of H5N2 bird flu in poultry in Hebei Province has been confirmed by China's Ministry of Agriculture.

The MOA revealed that the avian influenza has killed 4,000 chickens in a farm in Baoding City, China Daily reported.

Bird flu (avian influenza/avian flu) is a disease caused by an influenza virus (H5N1) that primarily affects birds but can infect humans also.

The National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory recently announced that the epidemic was indeed H5N2 bird flu after testing samples collected at the farm.

Local authorities sealed off and sterilized the infected area, and culled and safely disposed of 125,700 chickens to prevent the disease from spreading.
